Mapleton Elementary School Pre-K Photos


fire truck Pre-K students have taken part in several special activities this year. Firefighters from the Mapleton Volunteer Fire Department talked with students about fire safety and gave them a tour of the inside of their fire truck.
Wearing new fire hats, students sang a fire prevention song for the firefighters. fire prevention song
nature walk After reading the big book Nature Spy, students enjoyed being "nature spies" on a sunny fall day.
Specimens were collected for closer examination in the classroom. They had all become nature spies! collecting specimans
wagon ride The children went on a field trip to Putnam's Farm. The hour-long trip consisted of a horse-drawn wagon ride to the pumpkin field, where the children searched for the perfect pumpkin to bring home.
This photo shows the result of some very successful searches! Back in the classroom, children took part in a variety of pumpkin-related activities such as pumpkin painting and pumpkin carving. pumpkins
sidewalk chalk drawing Chalk designs on the sidewalk is creative fun for all, and is an example of the many outdoor learning activities that children take part in.
Watching a little crab crawl across the carpet, children learn more about tiny sea creatures. They also had the opportunity to hold starfish, sea cucumbers and sea urchins. The touch tank was part of an MPO-sponsored presentation from Mr. Averill's Ocean Adventure Program. sea creature on carpet
