PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND PERSONAL WELLNESS
One credit of Physical Education is required for graduation. Skills in lifetime and team sports are taught as well as a fitness program which emphasizes cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and muscular strength. Some of the activities that may be taught in Physical Education and Personal Wellness classes include but are not limited to: · AAHPER Fitness Testing Conducted in the Fall · Archery · Badminton · Basketball · Fistball · Fitness Training with Weights & Aerobic Equipment · Golf · Indoor Recreational Games · Soccer (indoor/outdoor) · Softball/Whiffle Ball · Tennis · The President’s Challenge Physical Activity & Fitness Awards Program · Ultimate Frisbee · Volleyball
ADAPTED
PHYSICAL EDUCATION This course is primarily designed to meet the needs of students who are physically unable to function in a regular physical education class. Enrollment in this class is through the recommendation of the Physical Education Department chairperson and guidance counselor. Appropriate physical fitness attire is required.
ELECTIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION
This elective semester course is for 11th and 12th grade students. Team sports and individual activities are offered. Appropriate physical fitness attire is required.
